About

Gaine Guidance was founded by Amir Sakura Etemadi, a QuestBridge Scholar from Gainesville, Florida, and graduate of Eastside High School (’23). Supported by mentorship, scholarships, and peer guidance, Amir pursued his goals to become a pre-medical student-athlete at Carleton College, inspiring the creation of Gaine Guidance to help other students achieve similar success.

About the Founder:

I am an aspiring physician with interests specializing in the upper aerodigestive tract, with a clinical and research focus that bridges otolaryngology, thoracic oncology, head and neck oncology, and pulmonary medicine. My interests lie in the complex interplay between airway function, swallowing, and malignancies affecting the head, neck, and lungs. I’m particularly drawn to the multidisciplinary care of patients with breathing disorders, aerodigestive tumors, and airway reconstruction needs—where surgical precision meets oncologic insight and respiratory physiology. Additionally, I like to research and identify holistic standards of care such as nutrition in treating surgical patients.

As a QuestBridge scholar & ambassador, TRIO-SSN mentor, [YU?] mentor, and Gaine Guidance Founder, I am committed to bridging the opportunity gap—empowering students from underserved communities to access higher education and giving them guidance along their journey.
